How to Avoid Cake Face

When I was in high school, I was a victim of cake face. I wore a full face of Cover Girl foundation every day despite the fact that I had pretty nice skin for a 17-year-old. What I wish I knew then was that foundation is meant to cover up only your uneven spots like the cheeks, around the nose and maybe the chin. You can dot concealer on any ruddy or pimply spots the foundation doesn't cover. I recently read on one of my favorite blogs, "Into the Gloss," that W Magazine's beauty editor only wears foundation on her cheeks. Really, your best bet is to apply only on the spots that need it.
